Yasmin (Yessi) Chomski and Ayelet Barak Medina

Ayelet Barak Medina \\ Director of Programs, The Fund for Victims of Terror, The Jewish Agency
Yasmin (Yessi) Chomski \\ Resident of Kibbutz Urim, Head of Early Education at Kibbutz Nir Oz
On the morning of October 7, Yessi sheltered with her family in the bomb shelter of their home in Kibbutz Urim while thousands of terrorists flooded the area. She feared for her own life, her family's, and the many children of the kibbutz. Later, she learned her relatives were murdered.
In the aftermath, Yessi channeled her sorrow into action, becoming a central figure in establishing temporary educational frameworks for the children of Kibbutz Nir Oz. Through this, Yessi met Ayelet Barak Medina, who came to offer assistance on behalf of the Fund for Victims of Terror. With Yessi’s care, Ayelet saw these children's resilience truly flourish despite the horrors they faced.
